About This Experience

A private day from your Kutaisi hotel to western Georgia's canyons and caves. At Martvili canyon you take the boat through the green gorge; at Okatse, if the weather is good, you walk the 780 m cliff walkway above the river; and at Prometheus cave you follow the 1.4 km lit route through six halls, with an underground boat ride at the end when the water allows. All entrance fees and boat rides are included (foreigner fees rose on 1 April 2026: Prometheus 40 GEL + 30 GEL boat, Martvili 40 GEL + 30 GEL boat). About 9.5 hours from Kutaisi. From Tbilisi it would be 12–13 hours, so we sell it with a night in Kutaisi or inside a longer tour.

Okatse Canyon

Beyond the cliff-edge path you'll find panoramic viewing platforms and, about 7 km away, the triple cascade of Kinchkha Waterfall, all set among Imeretian villages about an hour from Kutaisi. It makes a rewarding day out for anyone drawn to trails with a real sense of height and drama.

Every autumn roughly a million birds of prey funnel along the Black Sea coast past Batumi; almost 900,000 were counted in 2025. This four-day private tour is led in the field by a specialist bird guide from the Batumi birding community (SABUKO / Batumi Birding); your driver-guide handles the logistics. Days are spent at the Sakhalvasho and Shuamta count stations above Batumi, with time at the Chorokhi delta for waders and terns and in Mtirala National Park. The peak windows are 28 August to 5 September for honey buzzards and harriers, and late September to early October for steppe buzzards and eagles. Three nights in Batumi, packed lunches and the bird guide are included. Minimum two travellers; bring your own binoculars.

Georgia's semi-desert, in the far south-east near the Azerbaijan border: canyons, badlands, mud volcanoes and, with luck, goitered gazelles. The park has no proper roads, so the whole trip is by 4x4. In Dedoplistskaro we pick up the free Border Police permit for the Alazani river area and pay the park fees, then drive to Pantishara canyon and the Takhti-Tepa mud volcanoes and on to the park bungalows at Mijniskure. Day two covers Eagle canyon and the old Shiraki airfield before the 170 km drive back. Spring (April–May) and autumn (October–November) only: summer is too hot, and after rain the tracks can be impassable.
