Overview
A private day trip from Kutaisi to three of western Georgia's best-known natural sites: a boat ride through the green gorge of Martvili canyon, the 780 m cliff walkway over Okatse canyon, and the lit halls of Prometheus cave, with an underground boat ride at the end when the water allows. The day takes about 8.5 hours, with about 3 hours of driving in total. All entry tickets and both boat rides are included. The Okatse walkway closes in rain and snow, which is common in winter; when it is closed we visit Sataplia, with its dinosaur footprints and cave, instead. In summer, if time allows, we add the Kinchkha waterfall. From Tbilisi this would be a 12–13 hour day, so we offer it with a night in Kutaisi or as part of a longer tour.

Martvili Canyon is a narrow limestone gorge of the Abasha river near the village of Inchkhuri in Samegrelo, about 45 km (1 h) north-west of Kutaisi. A paved loop of about 700 m leads over two bridges to viewpoints above turquoise pools and small waterfalls, and a short rowing-boat trip of about 300 m takes you up the gorge between the cliffs. It is a protected natural monument and one of the easiest nature stops in western Georgia, often paired with Okatse Canyon or Prometheus Cave.

Okatse Canyon is a deep limestone gorge of the Okatse river near the village of Gordi in Imereti, about 45 km (1 h) north of Kutaisi. From the visitor centre, a forest path through the old Dadiani park leads to a 780-metre metal walkway bolted to the canyon wall, ending at a viewing platform that juts out over the gorge. The whole walk takes 2–3 hours. It suits active travellers comfortable with heights, and pairs with Kinchkha Waterfall, 5 km away.

Kinchkha (also called Okatse Waterfall) is a three-step waterfall near the village of Kinchkha in Imereti, about 50 km north of Kutaisi and 5 km from Okatse Canyon. The upper drops fall about 25 m and 70 m down a limestone cliff into a basin, followed by a lower 35 m cascade. It is a protected natural monument reached by a marked path of 2.1 km (about 25 minutes) from the village, and most visitors pair it with Okatse Canyon on a combo ticket.

Prometheus Cave is a large show cave at the village of Kumistavi, about 20 km (30–40 min) north-west of Kutaisi. A guided route of about 1.4 km leads through six lit halls of stalactites, stalagmites, curtains and underground lakes, and ends with a short optional boat ride on the underground Kumi river. The temperature stays around 14 °C all year, so it works in any season and makes a cool break on a hot Imereti day.

- Okatse closes in rain and snow, and the boats at Martvili and Prometheus stop at high water. We tell you on the day what is open and refund any unused boat fee.
- Kinchkha
- it only fits on long summer days when the other sites run to plan, so we cannot promise it in advance.
- Vertigo
- the Okatse walkway hangs over a deep drop. If heights bother you, you can wait at the trail's start while the others go on.
