Mestia to Ushguli Trek — 7-Day Supported Private Hike
The classic Svaneti trek, with the logistics handled. After the train and a night in Mestia, you walk 57 km in four days from Mestia to Ushguli through the villages of Zhabeshi, Adishi and Iprali with a local mountain guide, sleeping in family guesthouses with half board. There is about 3,100 m of total ascent, and the high point is about 2,700 m on the Chkhutnieri pass. On day four you ford the Adishi river early in the morning, or ride across on a local's horse. A car collects you in Ushguli and, in season, drives you out over the Zagari pass to Kutaisi. The trek is well marked but long and steep in places, so you need to be fit and to have walked 5–7 hours a day before.
