About Dashbashi Canyon

Dashbashi Canyon is a deep, green gorge of the Khrami river near Tsalka in Kvemo Kartli, about 100 km (2 h) west of Tbilisi. Since 2022 it has been crossed by the Diamond Bridge, a 240 m glass-floored walkway with a diamond-shaped glass café in the middle, plus a sky-bike zipline and a giant swing. You can also walk down a path to the waterfalls and river on the canyon floor, which is free. Most visitors spend 2–3 hours here, often combined with Birtvisi or the Tsalka plateau.

Best time

Late spring brings full waterfalls and green slopes, summer is pleasantly cool on the plateau, and autumn colours the canyon in October; winter is cold and the paths can be icy.

Fees

The Diamond Bridge costs about 60–80 GEL for foreign visitors, the sky-bike about 120 GEL and the swing extra; we confirm the current prices when booking. Walking the canyon floor is free.

Walking

The path to the waterfalls is steep and slippery after rain; wear shoes with good grip.

What to bring

A warm layer: the Tsalka plateau is at about 1,500 m and noticeably cooler than Tbilisi.

Time needed

1 hour for the bridge only; 2–3 hours with the canyon walk.

History & culture

Culture

The Tsalka plateau around the canyon was home to large communities of Greeks and Armenians who settled here in the 19th century; many Greek families left after 1991, but their stone houses and churches remain in several villages.

Accommodation

Very little: a few guesthouses on the Tsalka plateau. Most visitors come on a day trip from Tbilisi.
