Bakuriani Family Ski Break & Borjomi — 4-Day Private Tour

Borjomi · Bakuriani

  • 4 days
  • Private, 1–8 travellers
  • Easy
  • Late December–March

Overview

A private 4-day ski break from Tbilisi to Bakuriani, a forest resort about 190 km (3–3.5 hours) away via Borjomi, with a stop at Borjomi's mineral-water park on the way up and two full days on the snow. It suits beginners, families and anyone who prefers gentle slopes. Bakuriani's slopes at Kokhta and Didveli are gentler than Gudauri's, and one lift pass covers both areas (about 55 GEL a day in 2025/26). Didveli also has floodlit evening skiing; we check the current schedule for your dates. We book lift passes, ski rental and lessons with a local ski school for you, and you pay for them on the spot. Non-skiers can ride the cable car or go snowshoeing in Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. The Kukushka narrow-gauge railway from Borjomi has not run since 2020; the government plans to reopen it around January 2027, and if it is running during your stay we can add the ride. Private transfers in a winter-equipped vehicle and three hotel nights with breakfast are included.

Borjomi is a 19th-century spa town in a forested gorge of the Mtkvari river, about 160 km (2.5 h) west of Tbilisi, famous across the former Soviet Union for its salty, naturally carbonated mineral water. You can taste the warm water straight from the spring in the Central Park, ride the cable car above the town, bathe in the open-air sulphur pools higher up the valley, and walk into Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park from the visitor centre. It is the usual stop on the way to Vardzia and Bakuriani.

Bakuriani is Georgia's main family ski resort, at about 1,700 m in the pine forests of the Lesser Caucasus, 30 km above Borjomi and about 190 km (3–3.5 h) from Tbilisi. In winter the gentle slopes of Didveli, Kokhta and Mitarbi suit beginners and intermediate skiers, and Didveli has night skiing; in 2023 the resort hosted the FIS Freestyle and Snowboard World Championships. In summer it is a cool base for forest walks, the alpine botanical garden and trips down to Borjomi.
