Lagodekhi National Park

Georgia's oldest protected area, founded in 1912, on the forested southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus above the town of Lagodekhi. Marked trails lead to waterfalls such as the Black Grouse falls, and a hard three-day route climbs to Black Rock Lake on the Dagestan border.

Register at the visitor centre (a day fee of about 10-15 GEL is reported but unverified). Black Rock Lake: a 38 km loop with about 2,900 m of ascent, 3 days, a mountain guide and passport registration with the border guards; Meteo hut 30 GEL.
