Zu den höchsten dauerhaft bewohnten Dörfern Europas zählend, liegt das UNESCO-gelistete Uschguli tief im Kaukasus, wo jahrhundertealte Swanische Wehrtürme noch über den Steinhäusern aufragen. Die Swanen bewahren ihre eigene Sprache, Bräuche und den mehrstimmigen Gesang, und das Dorf öffnet sich zu Touren zum Schkhara-Gletscher.
