Young and rapid developing winter sports resort located at Kazbegi region of Georgia, 120 km from Tbilisi, at the height of 2,196 m (about 7,200 feet) near the Cross Pass. Skiing season lasts from December to April, comfort skiing on all routes. In November and May skiing is possible on the third (highest) lift or even on the second lift in snow years. Heli Ski is available throughout the season! A unique challenge for all! Routes and lifts The lower lift station is at 1,990 m (6,500 feet), and the top station is at 3,007 m (9,860 feet !). Last winter (2004/05) all three lifts of Doppelmayer cable railway were in operation, first lift is 1,010 m long (three chairs), second – 2,310 m long (four chairs) and third – 1,060 m long (three chairs). Last winter Gudauri had about 13 km of marked and prepared routes suitable for pro-riders and beginners. The third lift has a 2 km red route, the second lift – 3,5 km red route and 3 km blue route, a route for beginners is at the first lift. The total length of the longest downhill is 7 km with a 1000 m elevation change. But the most famous of Gudauri is the free-ride, a downhill out of any routes! Gudauri provides best opportunities for this extreme and excitement action. Deep snow, boulder-free slopes and avalanche-safe area – the Mecca of free-ride! Numerous out-of-route slopes are available for heli-ski and backcountry! Cable railway operates from 10 to 16 for any number of skiers on routes. Cable railway may be closed in rare occasions of very low visibility or high wind. Cable railway is equipped with standby power generator for blackout protection. Old cable railway is also still in place, but it is not required because of high capacity of the main one.
